HISTORIC BEVERLY’S STORY OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION (AUTUMN 2025)
2026 marks not just the quatercentenary of the cities of Beverly and Salem.
It’s also the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War which saw the birth of the United States of America.

Filmmaker Ken Burns’ six part twelve hour television documentary mini-series about the American struggle for independence from the British Empire premiered on 16 November 2025 on the television network PBS.
Historic Beverly, the organisation which manages three famous properties housing important collections relating to the early days of the republic, is displaying the 28 paintings selected by Burns for his documentary, with free entry for all. Here you see just two of the 28.
Unlike the Battle of the Brandywine, which was a British victory, the Battle of Monmouth, though inconclusive was seen as a moral victory for the Americans.
The American Revolution A Story of the War in 28 Paintings opened on 6 Sept 2025 at the Cabot House, 117 Cabot Street, Beverly, and will be on display until July 4, 2026.
