Cleanup volunteers in both Salem and Beverly will be making a special effort in 2026 to make sure that their cities are looking good for the 400+ celebrations.
In Salem, volunteers are invited to register for the 5th Annual Great Salem Cleanup which takes place on 16 May from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm.
Organised by the Salem MA Beautification Committee and Keep Salem Beautiful, it’s described on the city’s 400+ website as a ‘Rain or Shine’ event to celebrate Spring in Salem.
Keep Salem Beautiful is one of various groups urging the establishment of a Roadside Litter Prevention & Cleanup Task Force for the State of Massachusetts.
In Beverly, the volunteers of Keep Beverly Beautiful coordinate a city wide litter cleanup in April of each year in celebration of Earth Month.
The month-long observance grew out of Earth Day, which was first celebrated in 1970 to encourage public engagement with green issues like pollution and environmental degradation.
